The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a scholarship scheme to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections. Here are the eligibility criteria for NMMS:
Academic Eligibility
The student must be studying in Class 8 in a government, local body, or government-aided school.
To continue receiving the scholarship in later years (Classes 9 to 12), the student must:
Score at least 55% marks in Class 8 (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).
Maintain a minimum of 60% marks in Class 10 (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST) to continue receiving the scholarship in Classes 11 and 12.
Pass each academic year with a clear promotion to the next class.
Parental Income Limit
The annual income of the student’s parents from all sources should not exceed ₹3,50,000.
School Type Eligibility
Eligible:
Students studying in government, local body, or government-aided schools.
Not Eligible: Students studying in:
Private schools
Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV)
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV)
Residential schools run by the government or private institutions
