JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 – NTA will be releasing JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria on its official website. To be eligible for JEE Advanced, candidates have to fulfill the requirements related to age limit, nationality, academic qualification, subjects & number of attempts.
Along with this, they need to clear or get a good rank in JEE Main exam. Only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria, can fill the JEE Main online form 2025.
JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Indian Candidates
Given below are the JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Indian candidates which must be fulfilled before filling the application form.
JEE Advanced Age Limit
A candidate must be 18 years old to get eligible in JEE Advanced Exam 2025. Those candidates who are from the General and OBC categories must be born on or after October 1, 1999. Candidates who are from SC/ST/PWD category, must have been born on or after October 1, 1994.
JEE Advanced Nationality
All the Indian national candidates are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2025. But Foreign candidates will only be eligible for 10% seat quota.
JEE Advanced Eligibility Minimum Marks
Candidates who are appearing for JEE Advanced 2025, must have passed class 12th or its equivalent examination for the first time.
The candidates should be within top 20 category percentile of the qualifying examination in aggregate in the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Language and any one other subject.
Class 12 Exam Year Appearance
A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII examination for the first time in either 2023 or 2025.
JEE Advanced Subjects
Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the mandatory subjects in class 12th for appearing in JEE Advanced 2025 exam date.
JEE Advanced Number of Attempts
To appear in the JEE Advanced exam, a candidate can give only two times in two consecutive years.
JEE Main Performance
To be eligible in JEE Advanced 2025, they must be among the top 2.5 lakh in JEE Main qualified candidates.
The categories will be divided as the following:
- GEN-EWS – 10%
- OBC-NCL – 27%
- SC – 15%
- ST – 7.5%
- OPEN – 40.5%
- PwD – 5% horizontal reservation in all of the above.

Eligibility Criteria of JEE Advanced 2025 for Foreign Candidates
Given below are the JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility criteria for foreign candidates which candidates must before filling the application form.
- JEE Advanced Age Limit: Foreign candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1999 to be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam 2025. In some countries, a minimum stent is required in the armed forces before/after Class 12. In that case, candidates get relaxation for the required number of years. Candidates will have to upload the required testimonial or certificate in such a case.
- JEE Advanced Number of Attempts: Both foreign as well as Indian candidates, can attempt JEE Advanced 2025 maximum of two times in consecutive years.
- JEE Advanced Performance in Class 12th: Candidates must pass class 12th examination with the subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English or any subject which is given.
- JEE Advanced Earlier Admissions at IIT: If a candidate got selected in any of the IITs, then they cannot take JEE Advanced 2025 irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program. Candidates whose admission at IITs was canceled after joining any IIT are also not able to appear in JEE Advanced 2025 Exam.
- JEE Advanced Eligible Foreign Centres: Foreign JEE Advanced 2025 exam centre are eligible for are Dhaka(Bangladesh), Dubai(UAE), Kathmandu(Nepal), Singapore.
