Navodaya exam Eligibility Criteria 2024

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has already set down the Navodaya Exam Eligibility for class 6 and 9. It is mandatory for all the candidates to fulfil the Navodaya Vidyalaya Eligibility 2024 to appear in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test. Below, we have discussed the JNVST Eligibility Criteria 2024 separately for both of the classes, 6th and 9th.

Navodaya Eligibility Criteria for Class 6

A candidate who wishes to apply for NVS Class 6 admission 2024 must fulfil the Navodaya Eligibility for Class 6. The Eligibility criteria for Navodaya Vidyalaya for Class 6 is discussed below –  

  • The candidates who belong to the districts where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are only eligible to apply for Navodaya admission.
  • Candidates who wish to apply for Navodaya Admission must be aged between 10 to 12 years and it is applicable to all the candidates. There is no relaxation age for any category.
  • Applicants for Navodaya Selection Test 2024 must be studying in class 5th during the session 2023-24 in a Government/ Government aided or any other recognized school in the same district are also eligible.
  • A candidate who wishes to get admission from the rural quota must have studied & passed the Classes 3rd, 4th and 5th from a Government./ Government Aided/ recognised school with the spending of one full academic session every year in a school which is located in a rural area. 
  • The candidates who have studied in a school which is located in an urban area even for a single day of a session in any of the Classes 3rd, 4th or 5th, will be considered as an Urban area candidate. Urban areas are those areas which are so notified in the 2001 Census or through a subsequent Government Notification. The other areas will be considered as rural areas. 
  • The candidates who have not been promoted and admitted to Class 5th before 15th September are not eligible to apply for Navodaya Entrance Test.
  • No candidate is eligible to appear in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test for a second time under any circumstances. 

Navodaya Eligibility Criteria for Class 9

If any candidate wants to apply for JNV Admission Class 9, he/ she must fulfil the Navodaya exam eligibility for class 9. Below, we have provided the Navodaya Eligibility for Class 9th to apply for entrance exam – 

  • The candidates who have completed their Class 8th in one of the Government/ Government recognised schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning can apply for admission in Class 9th.
  • A candidate wishing to get admission into Navodaya Vidyalaya must be aged between 13 to 15 years on 1st May of the year of admission. This is applicable to all the categories of the candidates including those who belong to the SC and ST category.
  • Date of Birth of the candidate must be between May 1, 2009 to July 31, 2011 (both days inclusive).
  • The medium of language for the Navodaya Examination is English/ Hindi. 
  • Students appearing for the Navodaya Selection test 2024 must qualify the Class 8th in the academic session 2023-24.
