The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a strong warning to NEET UG 2026 candidates and parents after detecting fake and AI-generated Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets submitted during the OMR scrutiny process. The agency said that submitting fabricated or manipulated documents could lead to legal action against those responsible.
The development comes after several candidates raised concerns over alleged mismatches between their recorded responses and the marks declared in the NEET UG 2026 result. As part of the scrutiny process, the NTA examined complaints and found that some of the OMR sheets submitted by complainants were not original and appeared to have been created or altered using artificial intelligence tools.
NTA Clarifies Its Position
In an official statement shared through its social media platform, the NTA said it is carefully reviewing every complaint related to the examination. However, it noted that several OMR sheets submitted for verification were found to be fake or AI-generated.
According to the agency, only original OMR sheets should be submitted during the scrutiny process. Any candidate or individual found submitting fabricated documents may face legal consequences.
Why the Warning Was Issued
After the declaration of the NEET UG 2026 results, some candidates claimed that their recorded answers did not match the marks awarded. To address these concerns, the NTA opened a window allowing candidates to request scrutiny of their OMR sheets.
During the verification process, the agency discovered that some of the documents submitted as evidence had been digitally manipulated, while others appeared to be entirely AI-generated rather than genuine copies of the original OMR sheets. These findings prompted the NTA to issue a public warning and caution candidates against using forged documents.
Candidates Advised to Submit Only Authentic Documents
The NTA has advised students and parents to use only authentic documents obtained through official channels while raising any grievance related to the examination.
The agency emphasized that genuine complaints will continue to be examined, but submitting fake evidence may not only weaken a complaint but could also result in legal proceedings.

Candidates who believe there is an issue with their recorded responses should rely only on the official OMR sheet and response record made available by the NTA. The agency has urged aspirants not to depend on edited images or documents generated using AI or other software for filing objections.
