NEET Merit List 2023 PDF Download ‣ State wise and All India Quota List to be available soon

NEET Merit List 2023 PDF – The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be releasing the NEET 2023 Merit List online through their website that is neet.nta.nic.in after the release of NEET 2023 Result. The NEET Merit List 2023 contains the name of the candidates with their All India Rank (AIR), NEET marks and qualifying status.

Based on the NEET 2023 Merit List, candidates will be called for counselling for admissions in medical colleges based on 85% state quota and 15% regular quota. The students are selected in merit list as per various criteria, NEET 2023 cutoff marks is one of them.

Types of NEET Merit List 2023

Since the candidates receive different types of rank in NEET examination, thus the type of merit list also depends upon the type of marks secured by the candidate.

NTA released three different types of NEET Merit List 2023 which are as follows:

NEET 2023 Merit List Types
  • NTA will be releasing a general NEET 2023 Merit List which will contain the names of all the candidates who appeared for the examination irrespective of the category they belong to and whether they have opted for the All India Quota or not (while NEET registration 2023).
  • Another NEET 2023 Merit List released is the AIQ Merit List which contains the name of all the students who have opted for the 15% All India Quota. This list has the names of all the students across the country except those belonging to Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Third List is the State List which contains the State Rank of the students which can be used by the Counselling committee to give admission in state managed medical colleges. For getting admission in colleges using this NEET 2023 Merit List, students will have to submit his/her state domicile as a proof of his/her residence in that state. Without this, students won’t be considered for state counselling.

NTA has also declared the Tie Breaking Criteria which will be used by NTA to decide the rank of students in case there are two or more students getting the same marks. The Tie Breaking Category is given below:

  • Biology Marks : – At first, the marks obtained in Biology will be considered and the student getting more marks in Biology will be given higher rank.
  • Chemistry Marks : – In case, Biology marks couldn’t decide anything, then the marks of Chemistry will be compared to allot the rank.
  • Lesser Incorrect Marks : – If students have got the same marks in both Bio and Chemistry, then the number of incorrect answers will be compared and the student who has lesser incorrect answers will be given priority.
  • In case, none of the above mentioned factors is helpful in deciding the rank, then at the 2nd round of counselling, the age factor will be deciding which student will be given priority.

What if the name of the candidate is not in the State list but he/she is fulfilling the eligibility criteria for that state?

In such a case, students can fill the NEET 2023 Counselling form of that state and after the state will receive all the forms, they will be releasing the NEET 2023 State Merit List containing the name of all the students who can appear for the state round of counselling.

What if the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir want to apply for the AIQ seats?

In case, candidates belonging to J&K want to apply in the All India Quota, they have to fill the declaration form along with the NEET 2023 Application form. If the candidates did so, then instead of the Medical Counselling Committee, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will be taking the counselling round for those students.

What are the minimum marks a candidate should score in order to secure his/her name in the NEET 2023 Merit List?

For students belonging to unreserved category, they have to score a minimum of 50 percentile in order to have their name mentioned in the NEET Merit List 2023. According to previous year’s trend, 50 percentile can be achieved in the range of 140 to 720 marks.
