Resolution of Tie-Cases
If two or more candidates who score the same/equal marks in the written examination, the condition is called tie. Existence of tie-cases is occasional. WBJEE Board follows a few steps to resolve tie-cases.
- Candidates who have chosen less number of wrong answers and have scored less negative marks are given higher rank.
- If tie exists, then candidates who score more positive marks in physics and Mathematics are given higher rank.
- On further existence of tie-case, candidates with more positive marks in chemistry and mathematics are given higher ranks.
- Even if tie persists, candidates with more positive marks in Mathematics only for 2 mark questions are given higher rank.
- If no tie is resolved then candidates with more positive marks in Physics only for 2 mark questions are given higher rank.
- Still tie-cases exist, candidates with more positive marks in Chemistry only for 2 mark questions are given higher rank.
- To clear unbroken ties, candidates who score lesser negative marks in Mathematics only for 2 mark questions are given higher rank.
- Further if tie exists then candidates with fewer negative marks in Physics only for 2 marks are ranked forward.
- To break the tie once for all, the date of birth of the candidates are considered. Older candidates are given priority.
