- The time allotted to solving the XAT question paper is 3 hours and 10 minutes.
- The question paper is divided into five sections, namely: Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General Knowledge and Essay writing.
- The total number of questions asked is 101 which includes 100 MCQs and 1 essay-type question.
- 26 MCQs for Verbal and Logical Ability.

- 25 MCQs for General Knowledge
- 1 question for Essay writing
XAT Exam Marking Scheme
- All the correct attempts get 1 mark while a penalty of 0.25 marks for an incorrect attempt.
- Candidates can leave up to eight questions unattempted but anything above 8 will invite a penalty of 0.1 marks each.
- The scores for the first 3 sections will be taken for percentile calculation of XAT 2024 result.
- The General Knowledge section does not carry any negative markings.
