The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is responsible for announcing and administering CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria. The exam for CA Course 2025 is conducted thrice a year, in January, May and September.

CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2025
It is possible to register for the CA Foundation Exam 2025 if you are in Class 12 or passed the Class 12 examination from a recognized board. In addition, once a student has met the requirements to sit for the Senior Secondary Examination, then that student is eligible to take the Foundation Examination.
A student who has successfully enrolled for the Foundation Course is required to complete a minimum study time of four months to fulfil the eligibility criteria for the CA Foundation course.
CA Foundation Age Limit
The body administering the CA Foundation examination has not placed an age limit on participants who are allowed to take the exam.
CA Foundation 2025 Registration
Candidates seeking admission to the CA Foundation programme must complete the registration process issued by ICAI. Candidates can register with Board of studies after the 10th Class.
After registration, candidates need to fill CA foundation exam form May 2025. Only the students who fill the form will be eligible to appear for exam.
CA Foundation Educational Qualification
The candidate must have their 10th and 12th class education completed by a recognized board. Candidates can take provisional admission after the completion of their 10th class. They can then take their exams for CA foundation after the 12th class. Thus, their CA exam duration remains same.
CA Foundation Minimum marks
Candidates will be entitled to register for the CA Foundation 2025 exam if they have passed the Senior Secondary Examination with an aggregate score that is at least equal to or more than fifty percent.
Admit cards for the CA Foundation 2025 test will only be issued to candidates who meet all of the qualifying requirements for the CA Foundation exam. Therefore, candidates for the CA Foundation test must familiarize themselves with the CA Foundation 2025 Syllabus and the CA Foundation Exam Pattern well before the scheduled CA 2025 exam date.
Exemptions for CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2025
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) also provides an option for applicants to get admission to the Chartered Accountancy programme via a direct entrance path. These candidates are exempted from taking the CA Foundation test, and as a result, they can enrol for the CA Intermediate level of the course without first having to take the CA Foundation exam.
The applicants who are exempted from the requirements are as follows:
- Candidates who have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of commerce and have obtained a minimum grade point average of 55%.
- Candidates who have graduated from an accredited academic programme have a minimum grade point average of 60%.
- Candidates who have passed the CS Executive level exam offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) or the CMA intermediate level exam offered by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India are eligible to apply (ICMAI).
