Who can apply for NEET 2025?

Age Limit Criteria of NEET 2025 Eligibility
The upper age limit of NEET has been removed. So, the candidates above the 17 years of age (at the time of admission or ‘on or before December 31) can apply for the NEET examination. Earlier, the upper age limit of NEET exam was 25 years for the general category and 30 years for reserved category.

How many Attempts for NEET 2025
Following the NEET Eligibility amendments taken place in 2018, the number of attempts for NEET exam has been removed. Now, there are no restrictions on attempting the entrance exam, as per NEET exam eligibility criteria 2025. Candidates have been allowed to appear for the exam, if they fulfill all the eligibility criteria updated by NTA.
NEET Eligibility Criteria 2025 12th marks
- Candidates of unreserved category have to secure 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology individually in 10+2 or equivalent 12th board result 2025.
- 12th percentage required for NEET for OBC/SC/ST students: They should secure 40% marks in physics, chemistry, biology in +2 exam.
- Medically disabled aspirants must have to secure 45% marks in General-PH, 40% marks in SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH in aggregate in physics, chemistry, biology.

Eligibility Criteria for NRI/Foreign Aspirants in NEET 2025:
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 or any equivalent degree from outside the country must fulfill the other conditions of NEET eligibility criteria. Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have passed the theory and practical test in each of these subjects as well as English in the qualifying examination.

NEET Eligibility 2025 – Qualifying Examination Codes
NEET 2025 aspirants need to pick the NEET qualification codes for the examination while filling out the form. Details about the codes are given below:
NEET Eligibility Criteria 2025 for Code 01
Candidates who will be appeared for their Class 12 board exam in 2025 and will be waiting for their board’s result have to choose this code. However, till the time of admission, such candidates must have qualified their class 12 as per the specified criterion, failing which they will become ineligible.
NEET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Code 02:
Aspirants who are studying from the higher/senior secondary examination or Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) and come after a period of 12 years of study have to choose this code. As per the NCERT, the last two years of this study must comprise science subjects or any other elective subjects with English as a core subject. Applicants who completed Class 12 in the year 2025 or earlier and have not followed any other study after Class 12 must select this code.
NEET Eligibility 2025 Criteria for Code 3:
This code is for candidates who have successfully completed their Intermediate/Pre-Degree examination in Science from an Indian University/Board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects and English are included. Applicants who have completed a state board’s class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination must choose this code.
NEET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Code 4:
Applicants who have completed a Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination with science and english subjects have to choose this code during the form filling.
NEET Eligibility Criteria 2025 for Code 5:
Aspirers must choose this code if they are pursuing a three years degree course with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology, from any recognised university and have passed the first year including the practical exams mentioned above. They have to keep in mind that the qualifying exam here must be a university examination.
NEET Eligibility 2025 Criteria for Code 6:
Candidates who have passed the Bsc from an Indian university with at least 2 of the subjects- physics, chemistry, botany, zoology and biotechnology should have to choose this code in the application form.
NEET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Code 7:
Aspirers who have qualified any other examination which in scope and standard (last two years of 10+2 Study comprising science subjects; which shall include practical test in these subjects) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, have to choose this code. Candidates who have completed the qualifying examination from a foreign country have to choose this code too.

Yes. Class 12 marks matter only for the eligibility determination for NEET 2025.
How many times can we give the NEET Exam?
There is no such limit on attempts, as per the Health Ministry.
I have a gap year between Class 11 and 12. Will I be eligible for NEET 2025?
Yes. Candidates with a gap year will also be eligible for NEET 2025. Earlier, Medical Council of India (MCI) made amendments to the “Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997” in which it was specified that the students must undergo two continuous years of study to become eligible to take NEET Exam.
However, this amendment was removed by the Delhi High Court and candidates with gap years can appear for NEET 2025 for now. The latest information brochure of NEET also specifies the same.
